Project Overview

This project involved the replacement of the existing timber bridge at Valentine’s Creek with a new 2 span reinforced concrete bridge and included the construction of a side track construction, road approaches and drainage works.  

The site was 30km west of Gracemere on the Capricorn Highway in the Rockhampton District.

 

 Project Characteristics

This contract included the following works; 

  • Traffic Management including side track construction;
  • Clearing & Grubbing;
  • Earthworks;
  • Bridge Construction including bored piles and precast deck units;
  • Drainage works across the Capricorn Highway;
  • Pavement and Road Furniture;
  • Asphalt and Bitumen Seal; 
  • Minor Landscaping.

Key Project Outcomes

As the last timber bridge on the Capricorn Highway the replacement of this bridge has increased the road and bridge width along with increasing the load capacity of the bridge. The new bridge will also significantly reduce maintenance costs for the Department of Transport and Main Roads.
