Project Overview

This construction project will result in two traffic lanes and a pedestrian walkway being provided on the new bridge and improved road geometry for the bridge approaches. Stage 1 works will comprise earthworks, roadworks and drainage for the southern approach to the new bridge. Stage 2 bridge construction works will commence in July 2014 and the final stage roadworks connections will be completed early in 2015.

Project Characteristics

The project will involve the construction of a 3 x 23m span concrete bridge complete with;

  • Cast in-situ concrete piles;
  • Concrete Abutment, Pier Headstock, Column and Pile Cap construction;
  • Supply and erection of Precast Concrete Deck Units;
  • Construction of a cast in-situ deck slab;
  • Supply and erection of bridge balustrade and pedestrian barrier;
  • Rock Batter Protection;
  • Construction of an on bridge service duct including service installation;
  • 2.0m wide footpath over bridge;
  • Anti-graffiti protection coating to bridge concrete;
  • Minor drainage works, other;
  • Miscellaneous Works.

The key project outcomes for the local community and motorist include;

  • Replace load limited bridge that will now cater for two way travel;
  • Improved immunity from flood events;
  • Increased safety for road users;
  • Improved pedestrian access.
