Project Value: $350K

Project Duration: March 2011 – April 2011

Client: Department of Transport and Main Roads

Project Overview

Queensland Bridge and Civil have been engaged by the Department of Transport and Main Roads to perform slope stability works on the Palmwoods – Montville Road following a number of isolated landslips that occurred over the summer period.

Project Characteristics

  • Rapid resource mobilisation was required due to the small window of time available to the Department to complete the works under the First Response Emergency Work arrangements.
  • Over 160m3 of Rock Gabions were constructed and 500m3 of rock fill placed to provide batter toe stability and slip resistance.
  • The existing road was also upgraded through this section with 250mm of Cement Treated Base and a 50mm asphalt wear course.

Outcomes

  • This project successfully delivered on the project goals and resulted in a  stabilised batter and and upgraded, safe and trafficable road to the local community.
