Project Overview

As a result of the major flooding in Ipswich in January 2013, significant damage was incurred at Narda Lagoon, Laidley. The Department of Transport and Main Roads have awarded the replacement of the damaged guardrail on Rosewood – Laidley Road to QBC under the Transport Network Reconstruction Program (TNRP).

Project Characteristics

  • Removal and replacement of damaged concrete works;
  • Supply and placement of guardrail over Narda Lagoon on and around the culvert structure;
  • Management of traffic volumes to minimise impact to local community;
  • Sensitive environment working in and around Narda Lagoon.

Key Project Outcomes

  • Deliver a quality product as part of the long term repair and rectification of the area as a result of the floods;
  • Identify and manage construction risks in accordance with legislation, standards and industry good practice;
  • Minimise the effect of construction practices on the travelling public through the site;
  • Work collaboratively with Client and Community to ensure longevity of this item of infrastructure.
