Project Overview
Moreton Bay Regional Council engaged QBC for the construction of a new concrete bridge over Antibidawa Creek, Campbells Pocket Road, Campbells Pocket. This project included the construction of a temporary side track, bored concrete piles, concrete pad footing, columns, pier headstock and abutments, pre-stressed concrete deck units, asphalt deck wearing surface, bridge railing, guardrail, services relocations, approach earthworks, bitumen surfacing and demolition of the existing timber bridge.
Project Characteristics
- The construction of this project was in and around an idyllic waterway which had a small but steep catchment making stormwater runoff and site silt management problematic;
- Construction of a concrete pad footing in rock in the creek bed required innovative solutions to maintain creek flows while establishing a dry work site.
- Due to the narrow road corridor the side track has been designed with a single lane traffic light controlled configuration with a posted speed limit of 20 km/hr.
- Slowing vehicles down to safely negotiate the side track was also identified as a project challenge.
- Working in close proximity to overhead power supply also posed difficulties to piling and deck erection operations.
Key Project Objectives
- A high quality, cost effective, low maintenance bridge which meets the Client’s requirements and expectations has been provided.
- Establish new mutually beneficial relationships with a new Client and end endeavour to establish ourselves
