Project Overview
The Visentin Road and Station Road intersection is a very busy thoroughfare, linking local residents with key destinations including the Morayfield Train Station, Morayfield State High School, shopping centres and other rate payer services. This project will upgrade the intersection and includes widening’s to facilitate turning lanes which will improve traffic flows along with improving pedestrian safety.
Project Characteristics
The project will involve:
- Widening out the Visentin Road Intersection to install new dedicated turning lanes and improve traffic flows;
- Demolition works;
- Street lighting and Traffic signals;
- Drainage works;
- Concrete works;
- Line marking;
- Asphalt resurfacing works.
Construction is to commence in the 2012/13 Christmas holidays, to avoid disruption to the local school over the Christmas period while traffic volumes are at their lowest.
Key Project Outcomes
The ultimate project outcome is to improve safety for motorists and pedestrians while reducing congestion and improving traffic flow. Construction challenges include delivery on these outcomes while minimising disruption to the local residents, school, train commuters and motorists.
